Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are all of the fields on the Add Inventory Item screen?

If you've bought 5 bags of chips at the store and want to enter them, this is how you would do it:

Food: Chips

Amount and Unit of Measure: 11 oz (whatever the weight is on the bag)

Container type: Bag (or leave blank)

Quantity: How many bags you bought of this type of chip

Expiration Date: Whatever shows on the bag

Calories Per One Unit: 1000 (The calories for the ENTIRE bag. Not one serving)

Aisle: Wherever you want to categorize it. Examples are Snacks, Savory Foods, Chips

The app will then add 1000 calories for each bag of chips to your total calorie count. If you have multiple bags of the same chip you would change the Quantity field based on how many bags you have. Otherwise you would enter each bag as a separate item.

If you have a large bag of flour that you have split into different Mylar bagsthis is how you would enter it:

Food: Flour Amount and Unit of Measure: 10 cups (how much you've put in each bag) Container type: Mylar Bag (or leave blank) Quantity: 5 (How many bags of flour you have) Expiration Date: 10-20 years Calories Per One Unit: 4550 (The calories for the ENTIRE bag. Not one serving) Aisle: Wherever you want to categorize it. Examples are Flour, Baking, etc.

The app will then add 22,750 calories to your total calorie count.

  • How do I edit an item I already have in my inventory?

Use the search bar at the top of the inventory to search for the item.

Click on the item and then Edit in the top right corner. Make whatever changes you need to, then click Update Item + Done.

  • Why are there two of the same aisle in my inventory?

The app will create a category exactly how you enter it in the Aisle field on the Add Inventory Item screen.

For example, if you enter Vegetables and then you enter Vegetables., because the second one has a period, it will create a new category.

The category with the fewest food items in it has usually been entered incorrectly. So if I have 10 different items under Vegetables and 1 item under Vegetables., then I know which one I need to fix.

Click on the food item and then Edit in the top right corner. Make sure there isn't an extra space or punctuation in the Aisle field and if there is, correct it. Then click Update Item + Done.

  • Why isn't my item coming up on the scanner?

Sometimes the scanner doesn't get a good "look" at the UPC label. Tap the X in the top left corner of the scanner to exit, and then move to better lighting. Open the scanner again and hold still so you can try again.

If you've tried scanning the item multiple times and it's not auto-populating the fields, it's possible you'll need to enter the item manually. Not every UPC is stored in our database of products. The foods that are rarely found are store-brand items.

  • What's the best way to add all of my food to the inventory? I have a lot!

If you have a lot of food storage, you'll need to enter your items a little at a time. It's best to break your food storage up into sections and just work on one section at a time.

It also goes faster if you have another person helping. One person can enter the item in the app and the other can read off the weight, calories, etc.

  • How do I cancel my subscription?

Navigate to settings and tap on the pencil in the app. Then select Cancel Paid Membership and follow the instructions.
